Dorothy, a sweet senior Doberman was found as a stray in the an isolated part of Kentucky.  No one came looking for her as she watched through her cage at the shelter everyday.  Her time at the shelter was drawing to an end when she caught the eye of Sue, the owner of Distinquished Doberman Rescue of Pittsburgh.  Sue is also a member of Doberman Assistance Network, http://www.dobermanassistance.org, where the plea to help Dorothy first came to her attention.

Rich Kaplan, our very generous forum board host and pilot volunteered to fly to Ky to pick Dorothy up and take her to Sue's rescue.  His sweet daughter went as his "co-pilot" and dog caretaker.  As you can see from these photos they became fast friends!  She is also the photographer who took these photos in order to make a story picture book of this rescue flight.  School work has kept her from writing her story and sharing all of her pictures, but I am sure that once school is out, she will share with all of us what this rescue trip was like for her.

Dorothy is safe now thanks to alot of people who truly cared to make a difference.....thanks to Rich and Pilots-N-Paws for another successful ending!

Sorry for taking so long to reply! School only recently has been out and between all my 4-H camps and horse shows plus a broken arm I've been so busy I didn't realize how much time has gone by since my flight with Dorothy!

Dorothy was such a sweetie, she was one of the first larger dogs I've ever really spent time with and she was definitely fun (Aside from when she got planesick in my lap :P)! At first she was a little scared of flying, but by the end of the flight she was looking out the window and sleeping on my lap, calm as can be :). I definitely hope to do another Pilots-n-Paws mission soon, it was a great experience and Dorothy was a great dog, I really enjoyed getting to spend time with her!
