For those of you who have no installed it, a terrific $500 terrain upgrade has been available for several months for the Garmin 430/530. I highly recommend it. I would note that the logic on the terrain warnings is excellent and for the most part avoids false alarms. Note though that particularly on non-precision approaches, false alarms can be generated, just as can happen with ATC in the real world. If you fly a localizer approach with a "dive and drive" technique, for example, you may get a terrain warning when you (legally) descend below the ILS glideslope. Note that ATC may also give you as similar low altitude alert in this situation. Attachment: garminterrain2.jpg (Downloaded 48 times) |
