This is for a 530W. In my scenario, I am IFR landing San Jose (SJC), but approach has instructed me to go direct to another airport (RHV) for sequencing into SJC I am IMC, so have to enter RHV on the flight plan page and go direct to it. So my active flight plan is:
1> KRHV
2> KSJC

I know I will be landing runway 29 in SJC,and I want to put the GPS 29 SJC approach into the flight plan. However, when I hit "PROC" I only get the choices for RHV, not for SJC. How would I add the approach for a subsequent airport in the flight plan?

Interesting question. It appears that whenever you are "direct to" a waypoint, including an airport, none of the "proc" select tools know about any airport except the one that you are direct to. This is not an issue in leg mode.

The way to force the selection of an approach is to find your destination airport (e.g. SJC) and select the approach in the "WPT" page. Here is a more precise recipe, as found by using the 430W/530W simulator, in 430 mode:

1)From the active flight plan page, select the destination airport, KSJC ("push CRSR", rotate large knob)
2) Press "enter". This brings up the SJC page with "Done?" flashing.
3) Turn cursor off ("push CRSR") then rotate small knob to page 4
4) Turn on cursor ("push CRSR") then rotate large knob to the "APR" field
5) Select approach with small knob
6) Choose "Load into active FPL"

Voila. Cumbersome, but this is a good general technique to know about.
