I need a step by step method of displaying a textual METAR on a 530. I have XM weather. I have followed the steps in the 400/500 series Garmin Optional display on page 23 and it does not work for me. I do not get a list as described in “to enter and identifier”
I have a flight plan enter and activated.
Thanks

Hi Don.  A few questions:

(1) What information do you get from the Data Link Status and Data Link Log pages (see page 19 of the Garmin manual you quoted)?

(2) Do you get graphical METARs (see page 21)?

I have the 530 and the GDL69A, page 19 refers to the GDL 49 only.  Yes I do get Graphical METARS,  every things is working great except the Textual METARS,  thaat is why I feel it is only a button pushing problem on my part.

When I go to the textual METAR page the box at the top- center Marked “Apt” is not highlighted and I can’t get to it to input an airport nor can I turn the small right knob and have a list of identifiers to choose from and stated on page 23 of the “OPTIONAL DISPLAY MANUAL” Is their a step I am missing?

Thanks

Donald

Did you push in the small right knob in order to turn on the highlight feature?

It sounds to me as if this is most likely a question of how to operate the user interface rather than a hardware issue.

Is there any way you can post exactly what buttons/knobs you are pressing/turning?  Or perhaps even post a picture of what the screen looks like when you are trying to access the METAR feature?
