Hi all. 'Just found out about your group and can't wait to spread the word among friends and colleagues.
I am a Pittsburgh, PA animal rescuer and a flight attendant for Continental, based at IAH. We do what we can in transporting rescues on our scheduled flights but there is a definite need for a network like this.
THANK YOU!

This is excellent! I am a Board Member and Transport Coordinator for Coast to Coast Dachshund Rescue (http://www.c2cdr.org) and my husband is a pilot for a fractional ownership company. He has 14 days off a month and we live in the same town as a small airport where we have the ability to rent a plane.
I forwarded him the link to join and am hopeful to work together!

| What a wonderful idea. Have posted this on http://www.ryleysrun.org, and on http://www.rescuecentral.info for members to know about. Have also seen it posted at http://www.goldenretrieverforum.com as well. Here's hoping that this continues down a successful path.

This is a wonderful idea. I'm part of a rescue group in Canada - any pilot transportation available in Canada?

| Well there can be concerns with health certificates with international travel espcially if animals are up for adoption. I think it would be fine for Canadian pilots to volunteer to fly missions within the country however.

| That's what I'm hoping for. It would be great if Canadian Pilots joined the group

Do commercial airlines also help transport animals in rescue? If so, does anyone know how you go about contacting them to use this service?
Thanks!

Only if you pay them

| What a surprise! Paying them. It would be such a wonderful thing if we could get this in Canada. If only from Montreal or Ottawa to Toronto. We transport so many dogs between those cities. Some have never been in cars before so 6 hours is a nightmare for them.

We are THRILLED to have found you! We don't fly dogs a lot as we are a pretty small group, but what a WONDERFUL resource for rescue groups across the US!
BRAVO!!! and thanks to the kind folks who organized it.

NEW MEMBER! IN FLORIDA!
Hi everyone. I just found out about this group today, from a cross-posting to a Yahoo pilots' group. Finally, a group that is about my TWO favorite things - dogs, and flying!
I am in the Tampa, FL area and have been doing small breed rescue since early 1998. I specialize in small senior dogs, especially terminally ill and/or abused/neglected ones. I'm basically running a sanctuary or hospice, called Better Than Heaven (because they don't have to die to come here). Usually the dogs I get stay with me for the rest of their lives, rather than get adopted out, because they need expensive meds or are hard to place. I also do some transport and home checks for other rescuers in my area.
In December I started taking flight lessons. I am still a student pilot (have 30 hours) but would like to become involved as much as possible now. After I get my PPL, and go on for my instrument rating, I'll be able to do even more with this group.

Welcome to the group, so glad you found us! It is amazing how much the word is finally spreading to pilots.....
This is likely a good time to remind everyone that if you would like to help us let others know about Pilots-N-Paws, please go to http://www.pilotsnpaws.org and print out a flyer. We are asking that you take the flyer to your local airports and ask permission to post it on the pilots bulletin board. Please feel free to share this flyer with any pilot groups you belong to as well.
There are more then enough animals needing transport and it would be wonderful to find more pilots who share the same desire of getting thes furkids to a safe place and a chance for a new life.
